Gates Cambridge pays the full cost of a postgraduate degree at the University of Cambridge for about 70 students a year from outside the UK. It covers PhDs, MLitts and most one-year master's courses. It does not cover undergraduate study, MBAs or other professional degrees.

The award covers university fees, a yearly living allowance (£23,152 at the 2026–27 rate), return flights, visa costs and the Immigration Health Surcharge.

How to apply: tick the Gates Cambridge box in your Cambridge graduate application and meet your course's deadline. Nigerian applicants are in the later (non-US) round, which closes on 8 December 2026 or 6 January 2027 depending on the course.
